Purpose:
To encourage you to start to differentiate between climbs that are achievable on the next attempt and climbs that become more of a project, as well as begin to manage performance anxiety
Where: wherever you like
This drill can be done in any environment on any hold types.
When: during the Learning Window
Climbs should be easy enough to allow thought process but not so easy as the drill feels contrived.

The Drill:
Before starting any climb, rate your chances of success on the next attempt on a scale of 1-5 as follows:
- A score of 5 means that it is almost certain that you will succeed. For example, the easiest warm up climbs you try
- A score of 1 means you will almost certainly not climb the route on the next attempt. For example, a new project at your top grade
- Scores of 2, 3 and 4 sit incrementally along the way
The Outcome: How do you know when it’s working?
Over time, you should find that you become better at guaging which climbs you are likely to succeed on and which ones are going to prove more challenging.
You may also find that the climbs with low scores (1 or 2) become less daunting, allowing you to adopt a ‘do your best’ approach
