Drill: Drop Set On Routes

Purpose:

To demonstrate to yourself that you are a lot more capable than you realise

Where: wherever you like

This drill can be done in any environment on any hold types but you will need two routes on the same line; one too hard for you and one fairly easy

When: during the Main

This drill involves you pushing yourself quite hard, so ensure you are warm and not too fatigued

The Drill:

Select a line with a hard climb and easy climb together

  • Climb the hard line until you are almost falling off
  • At the last second, switch to easy line and finish the climb
  • Repeat but try and move the switch point higher up the wall

The Outcome: How do you know when it’s working?

Over time, you should find that begin to better understand your own physical limits
