Drill: Eliminator

Purpose:

To encourage you to gradually enhance your dynamic climbing abilities

Where: wherever you like

This drill requires climbs with LOTS of holds to begin with. I suggest using the easiest climbs available

When: during the Learning Window

I’d suggest this is best done early during the Learning Window

The Drill:

Pick a climb with LOTS of holds. You’re going to be doing laps on the same climb

  • First lap: use every hold
  • Second lap: eliminate ONE hold. Repeat the climb with the remaining holds
  • Continue until the route is no longer possible

RULES: You may not eliminate neither the starting holds nor the end holds

The Outcome: How do you know when it’s working?

Over time, you should find that you begin climbing statically but are able to develop this into progressively more dynamic movement
