Purpose:
To help you identify your strengths and weaknesses in your climbing
Where: wherever you like
This drill involves using the entire wall at your disposal.
Ideally, it is completed in a new enviornment – either a new wall or a new set in your home wall – but it can be done if this is not available
When: either Throughout your whole session or at least, in the Learning Window
To complete this drill, you’ll need to try and large volume of routes. Consider extending the Learning Window and having a flatter graph for this session

The Drill:
Progress your way through the grades up to your natural max point
- Before you begin: look around the wall and see what you’ve got available. Pay attention to hold types, wall angles and sequences
- Climb anything you like, starting with the climbs that you like the look of.
- Pay attention to the climbs that you don’t like the look of
- Optional: consider taking notes or filling in the graph below

The premise is simple: we tend to do what we like to do and we like to do what we’re good at. Therefore, the climbs that you have identified as the ones you enjoy are likely to be your strengths, the ones you tend to avoid will be your weaknesses
The Outcome: How do you know when it’s working?
Over time, you should find that you begin to better understand both which climbs you like and which you don’t like and therefore, start to identify your strengths and weaknesses
